Psychotherapy for Relationships What is Psychotherapy?Psychotherapy is the therapeutic use of psychology in order to help people overcome personal issues. Psychotherapy is usually used to help individuals or couples, though it can be used to help groups. There are a number of methods of psychotherapy used today and these include, C.B.T (Cognitive, Behaviour Therapy) E.F.T( Emotionally, Focused, Therapy) Hypnotherapy I.P.T (Interpersonal Psychotherapy), Gestalt, Psychoanalysis, Somatic Psychotherapy, Transactional Analysis. The best advice I can give anyone about which method of psychotherapy to try is to make sure that the practitioner is highly qualified and the type of psychotherapy they provide suits you. I have expertise in CBT, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Emotionally Focused Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy. My approach employs both cognitive elements behavioural change strategies and experiential elements depending on you and your particular needs. How can Psychotherapy be used to help peoples relationships? In some cases a relationship may be under stress because one partner or the other is suffering with anxiety, stress or depression and in some cases psychosis or personality disorders. If this is the case then normal relationship counselling will not be sufficient to help the couple. When stress, anxiety, depression, or other serious mental health disorders are present then the relationship will suffer because of the presence of one or the other of these conditions. If this is the case then these conditions must be treated in parallel with suporting and enhancing the relationship. Who would benefit from Psychotherapy?Psychotherapy will benefit anyone suffering any of the following conditions.
This list represents only a small proportion of the issues that psychotherapy can help you with. How can Psychotherapy help you?Psychotherapy can help in many ways.
