Panic Attack and RelationshipsThe effect of all forms of panic attack sufferers and a the people who care for them can be great putting enormous pressures on relationships. Help for the sufferer and the carers is available. Read on to find out more about this condition and how I can help both the people with panic attack and the people who care for them. What are Panic Attacks Panic attack affects approximately 2-3 percent of the population at some time in their life. Like most of the anxiety disorders panic attack is typified by a fear response. However in panic attack the sufferer experiences a sense of overwhelming fear or panic. The Symptoms of Panic Attack include Panic attack is like most anxiety disorders, it is typified by shaking, sweating, tightness in the muscles chest and throat, dryness of the mouth and possibly even nausea. However during a panic attack the sufferer may believe that they are going crazy, or feel extremely embarrassed or they may even fear that they may be about to die. People who suffer from panic disorder fear these attack may happen at any time or during specific situations, such as being in a closed space, in shopping centres, or for that matter being out doors. If this condition is allowed to develop the sufferer may go on to experience agoraphobia, or the avoidance of places or situations in which a panic attack may occur and from which escape may be difficult or help hard to find. The effect of panic attack on relationships can be great Panic attack can cause a great deal of relationship distress. Because of the nature of panic attack sufferers may begin to avoid situations that they fear may bring on a panic attack. Consequently they slowly begin to shrink down their lives. The people who love an support people with panic attack may be unable to understand the enormous fear a sufferer experiences during the attack itself. Both the sufferer and the people who support them need to understand the condition and the best treatments if they are to eliminate the negative affects of Panic Attack on their relationship. Panic attack is readily treated with psychotherapy and in most cases can be eliminated.Treating Panic Attack Currently the treatments with the most evidence supporting there effectiveness are cognitive behaviour therapy, as well as exposure therapy. However new forms of therapy are showing promise in the treatment of this frightening condition; these new treatments focus on fear reduction.
