Counselling for Grief and Loss What is Counselling for Grief and Loss Like death and taxes, grief and loss will happen to all of us many times through our life. Whether we experience the loss of a loved one or the loss of career, house, marriage, health, dreams of the future, our sense of safety; grief and loss will effect everyone on the planet. Unfortunately many people find that their first experiences of grief and loss can be overwhelming. Modern society doesn't teach us healthy and supportive ways to cope with major life experiences such as grief and loss. It doesn't have to be that way. Having successfully passed through a great deal of grief and loss I can assure you that I can help during your crisis. If you find yourself struggling to come to terms with your loss or losses please don't hesitate to call. Simply talking to a professional can help lighten the burden, help you see ahead and start looking forward to the future. You don't have to struggle on alone, I am sure I can help no matter what your circumstances. I will listen to your situation without judgment or criticism and I will always have your best interests at heart. Past loss versus Recent Loss Sometimes the losses we suffer early in our lives make us suffer in the present. When this happens it is critical to create a new relationship with the past. A relationship that enables you to accept the past but not be controlled by it. All of us can do this. Other times the losses and grief we suffer are only recent. Never underestimate the power of loss, even if it is something common place such as the loss of a parent or the loss of career or even the loss of future hopes and dreams. Managed properly loss can build us and help us find greater happiness. Managed poorly loss can break us and destroy any future happiness. All loss is difficult and challenging, if you find yourself struggling to come to terms with a situation call and ask for help. It doesn't have to be overwhelmingly hard. How Can Counselling or Psychotherapy Help In Grief and Loss. No matter what you think or how you're feeling help is available. There are a number of ways in which counselling or Psychotherapy can help someone suffering from grief and loss. Simply having someone to talk to will help, however the benefits of counselling or psychotherapy do not stop there. Modern psychology can help someone move through the process of grief and loss more quickly and will prevent the grief becoming complicated and chronic.
