The effects of chronic depression on the sufferer and their relationships can be profound. From simply flattening and stopping the enjoyment of a spontaneous and exciting relationship through to causing arguements, reckless behaviour, alienation and even domestic violence. The sufferers will often feel guilty about their effect on others while the people who want to support them often don't know how. In many cases the best efforts of either party only makes things worse. I am able to help both the person suffering with depression as well as the people who support them.

The treatments for Chronic depression

In mild to moderate forms of chronic depression the treatments of choice include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy. In some cases the treatment for chronic depression might need include drug therapy in conjunction with psychotherapy depending on the type of depression present. often psychotherapy alone can be used to effectively treat Chronic depression. For milder forms of depression, exercise, dietary change, hypnotherapy, are highly effective.

Accurate Assessment and Treatment Planning is essential

Accurate assessment is critical in the effective treatment of these potentially serious conditions. If depression goes untreated it can progress to becoming far worse. In the very least untreated depression will prevent you from simply enjoying the kind of life and relationships you deserve.
